When the unexpected Happens: How to Keep Your Cool

What do you do when you are far from home and you lose your bag with your passport, credit cards and extra cash?

Be Prepared- to avoid losing it all, be prepared. Keep a few $20 bills in a separate bag or hidden somewhere on your person. Carry a photocopy of your passport and any required visas and keep in a place separate from the original. Or store important documents in a password-protected account online or in your smartphone.
Don't Panic- Even the most careful traveler can have a problem
Ask for help- If you are in a country where little English is spoken, enlist the help of a hotelier or at the tourist office to assist you in making phone calls or explaining the situation to the police
File a police report- Find a police officer and report the loss. Having a police report may help with replacing your passport and credit cards, and it's a must if you file an insurance claim.
Use the internet- get online at your hotel or a public internet terminal and find contact details for the nearest U.S. Embassy and your bank, retrieve information you have stored online or ask family back home for help.
Replace your passport- Without a passport, you can't leave the country, and it will be difficult to check in at a new hotel or receive wired funds. To replace your passport , you will need to go in person to the closest American embassy or consulate. Having a copy of your passport will make this easier. A replacement passport costs $140 and generally can be issued within a dew days or faster if you explain that you need it right away.
Cancel debit and credit cards- Within two days, cancel your lost or stolen debit and credit cards and order replacements. The global customer assistance center collect (Visa: 410-581-9994; Mastercard: 636-722-7111; American Express: 623-492-8427). You will need to tell them the name of the bank that issued the card and the type of card; identification-verification details. Your bank can generally deliver a new card to you in Europe within two to three business days.
Keep track of your stuff- you're more likely to inadvertently lose your bag than to have it stolen. You're especially vulnerable when you're tired, confused or using public transportation.

Sailing on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator

I just returned from the Regent Navigator round trip Ft. Lauderdale including stops in Port Canaveral, Charleston, Hamilton, & St, George, Bermuda and Nassau.

It was 10 days of luxury and pampering--the perfect length to catch up on much needed rest. It was so relaxing my husband and I had a hard time disembarking the ship. I can't say enough about the wonderful service and attention to detail onboard!

We dined at Prime 7, the steakhouse onboard, which was spectacular. A beautiful setting, delicious food and excellent service made it a great dining experience. The tables were not too close together but still intimate.

At the last port I participated in the dolphin encounter at Paradise Island which was an experience of a lifetime. A wonderful vacation enjoyed from start to finish. We recommend you give yourself a similar experience.

On The River with Ama Waterways aboard the Amadagio

For a week in April, aboard the Amadagio I was totally immersed in the culture and people of the Rhine and Mosel Valleys. This closeness was one of the biggest bonuses I experienced as a river cruiser. We also enjoyed complimentary excursions with audio devices as well as wine and beer with dinner. The 170 sq ft cabin had a french balcony, was well-equipped with a large shower and had free use of a personal computer. The food was terriffic!

Docked in the city centers, our cruise included Amsterdam, Cologne's magnificent cathedral; Rudesheim with a visit to a local vineyard; Cochem's spectacular Castle and a tour of Heidelbourg. The biggest surprise was Luxembourg, a beautiful city and the location of an American World War II cemetery with the grave of General George Patton.

I am sold on river cruising! Where else do you have 360 degree panoramic views of castles on the Rhine while enjoying a perfect sunny day on deck with bratwurst barbecue?

Track a flight: you want to know if a loved one's plane has landed. Enter the code of the airline and the flight number (E.g. AA209) to see the exact time and plane departed and landed
Translate: you received a hotel confirmation in a different language and you need the translation, go to translate.google.com
Map it: go to maps.google.com and enter your street destination in the search box to bring up a map. To find restaurants or parking, add either word after the destination in the search box
Convert Money: enter the amount in the country's currency in the search box, followed by "into dollars", (E.g. 60 euros into dollars)
Check the time: to check the time anywhere in the world enter "time in" and the city name in the search box, (E.g. time in London)

The Lawn Club Grill: Both Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection will present "The Lawn Club Grill," the industry's first outdoor, interactive grill venue. A new, exceptionally social specialty option over looking the lush lawn and soothing sea, The Lawn Club Grill will boast gleaming stainless steel grills and other appliances, custom pizza making tables and large ovens. In addition to a casual lunch menu the venue will present interactive demonstrations and classes focused on pizza-making-including the art of dough-tossing-grilling secrets, mouth-watering marinades and more, led by Celebrity's own chefs, as well as guest chefs participating in Celebrity's "Savor your Destination" program. By night, guests will have their choice from an array of top-quality meats to either grill themselves, side-by-side with Celebrity's chefs, or have grilled to order. A nominal surcharge will apply. Complementing the dinner experience will be libations ranging from wines, beer and sangria, all consistent with casual nature of the 56-seat restaurant.

The Porch: With its chic, Hamptons-style design, The Porch will be an idyllic spot for quick, simple, casual and complimentary breakfasts and lunches. Offering breathtaking views of the lawn and sea courtesy of its prime location on the starboard side of the ship at the entrance to the Lawn Club. The intimate, 48-seat venue will be the perfect place to enjoy complimentary fresh pastries, salads, paninis and other sandwiches, in addition to specialty coffees, beer and wine.

The Alcoves: Celebrity also will present within The Lawn Club "Alcoves," Eight exclusive, cabana-style settings, each designed for two-to-four guests. Each of The Alcoves will offer WiFi for guests who want to stay connected while relaxing, themed picnic and an a la carte beverage menu. The Alcoves will be available as partial or all-day rentals. Adjacent to The Alcoves, guests will find eight inviting hammocks and two whimsical, over sized Adirondack chairs, each offering complimentary, additional opportunities to relax amidst the atmosphere of the lawn and sea.

The Hideaway: Guests seeking a particularly quiet spot to get away will enjoy The Hideaway. Here you will find high-tech escape for vacationers relaxing with their ipads or perhaps trying our a new Aple product from the Celebrity iLounge, or a low-tech retreat for reading a good book. Inspired by teh live trees suspended within the Grand Foyer of every Solstice Class Ship, the design of The Hideaway reflects that of an upscale, avant-garde tree house, with cozy, intimate lounging "nests," or niches.

How to Travel with a cell phone by Reid Travel

Today about 61.2 million Americans own a smart phone and most likely could not live without it. However, using email and other features while abroad could double or triple your bill. Here are some tips on how to avoid a steep bill while traveling.
Before you leave:

sign up for an international plan. Cell phone service providers charge users who do not have roaming packages significantly more for international calls and data usage.
Look for hot spots. JiWire (jiwire.com) has a directory of free and paid hot spots around the world.
Turn off data roaming. If needed you can turn it back on temporarily.

While you are gone:

Use your Wi-Fi connection whenever possible in a hot spot to get/send email and internet connection, this is normally free. Just remember that connecting to a ship's Wi-Fi usually has a charge associated to it
Stay in airplane mode. If you do not, every time you receive a phone call or voicemail you will be charged
Use the Internet as your phone. An application such as Skype could save you money.
If you accidentally use up your entire roaming allowance, call your service provider to increase your roaming coverage while you're away.

After you get home:

keep your roaming package on. If you have used up your data allowance while on vacation, then you should keep your roaming cycle to avoid overage charges
